NanoSIMS analysis has great potential in medical research. In the example below a bromine labelled nucleic-acid-based therapeutic (modified antisense oligonucleotide, or ASO) is ingested by a mouse, and the distribution of ASO in various tissue types is observed by NanoSIMS at the subcellular level.
